Thai Customs splits the edible-insect import code into cricket and other — FDA e-permit linkage stays, from 1 October
Thai Customs has split the insect line (HS 0410.10.00) in its list of imports that need Thai FDA e-permit linkage through NSW into house cricket (001) and other (090). Both codes stay linked, from 1 October 2026.
What the notice says
On 24 September 2026 Thai Customs posted Customs Notification No. 114/2569. It revises the list of goods whose Thai FDA electronic permit or certificate data must be linked through the National Single Window (NSW) before the import declaration is sent. The printed effective date is 1 October 2026 (1 ตุลาคม พ.ศ. 2569).
The change concerns insects:
- Schedule 1 deletes item 12 of the annex to Customs Notification No. 8/2566: HS 0410.10.00, statistical code 000, "Insects (แมลง)", imports.
- Schedule 2 adds two import lines under the same HS code: statistical code 001 "House Cricket (จิ้งหรีด)" and 090 "Other (อื่น ๆ)".
Business implications
Insects have not been taken off FDA linkage. The single code is now split into crickets and other insects, and both remain linked. From 1 October, importers of edible insects or insect ingredients must declare statistical code 001 or 090 instead of 000.
Declaration templates or broker product masters that still carry the old code can cause trouble at filing. Before your next shipment, confirm the new code with your broker and check that your FDA e-permit links under it. Whether a processed ingredient such as cricket powder falls under this HS code is a separate classification question.
